psalms 147:8-9

“He covers the sky with clouds; he supplies the earth with rain and makes grass grow on the hills. He provides food for the cattle and for the young ravens when they call.” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭147‬:‭8‬-‭9‬. This verse reminds me to not worry for God cares enough about the animals to feed them so He will feed me. The animals call to God.They are in constant communication with Him at all times. Man is the only creation that forgets about their Creator. Every creature worships Christ while man will purposely neglect Him. Man is the only creature with free will to choose Him, while the animals have no choice. The world can not afford both man and animal to be defiant.

If watched closely the animals teach us how to obey God. They call to Him. The tussle of the leaves, melodies from the beaks of birds, the roaring of a lion, changing colors of the sky…it all sings praises to God. They call to Him, not because they need something but because they acknowledge they are created. An ongoing dialogue, constant contact with the Highest Being. I struggle with being present in God’s presence constantly.Getting older I’ve noticed that I feel God more especially outside of reading my bible. Sometimes I have to remind myself that He is closer than the breath I breathe. I’m still internalizing, my mind can’t fathom the intensity of His closeness.

He is a natural caregiver. I speak of the love of God more than His discipline. I share His goodness more than sharing of how I’ve broken His heart more times over. I suppose I don’t share about how God disciplines me because it doesn’t look like the traditional “go sit in your room and think about what you’ve done.” It feels like Him being with me through the consequence of my actions. When I make a wrong decision, He doesn’t keep me from the consequences. He’s allowed the consequences to not be as bad as it could’ve been. I share only His goodness because even His discipline is good. Even His correction is greatness and even His conviction is love.

The animals show undying devotion and obedience. They do not complain, ask questions, it’s all engrained. God is teaching me how that obedience usually involves discomfort. The courage to push through is a learned behavior. Let’s be real, sharing the gospel is very uncomfortable but it’s really the only calling that both shows live to God and others. It’s the only He’s put on our lives to share His gospel and love others. If His message isn’t being shared, then how much do we really love those around us?
