I love when God answers my prayers. Two men as a potential date and my only prayer: “God close any doors that are not for me and keep open any doors that are.” He closed both doors. Life’s coming together. Two more payments and my credit card debt will be gone. Finally purchased a new laptop, nothing extravagant just enough to manage my blog. Operating with my old Macbook Pro for eight years she was coming to the end of her life. System sticking, difficult to function. Resorting to operating my blog from my phone. A gift for paying off my debt, a new laptop and several tattoos. Granting some of the incentives early. Putting to use some tricks a friend taught me back home has kept me financially stable, responsible and above water.
I’ve been feeling mentally lighter this week. Spending time in God’s word. Understanding His character has helped me understand how I should live. Tye Tribet once said, most of our sin is from a lack of honor toward God. Reading about the Isrealites, Moses said “I have watched you rebel against God since He has brought you out of Egypt until now.” Fear and disobedience kept the first generation of Isrealites from seeing the Promised Land. Wandering for forty years, God leading them. It hit me that only I can stand in the way of my blessings, it’s not a guarantee that I will receive them if I keep being disobedient and doubting God’s power. To doubt God, to be fearful is to underestimate His strength.
There have been times in my life where I have sat on God’s power because I put Him in a box. Everytime the Isrealites got scared they made a choice to disobey. Disobedience is a choice. I’ve made the decision so many times to feed what I wanted because what God was showing took way more faith than I was willing to give. The beauty of His story is that God used humans like Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and Moses to be a middle man. Moses was the messenger between God and the Isrealites. So many times God showed the role Jesus would play in relations to humans and God. Jesus is now the mediator. Moses interceded on behalf of the Isrealites when God’s anger burned because of their rebellion. Many times God wanted to destroy them yet the prayers of Moses saved their lives. Jesus intercedes on our behalf, praying for things we could never see, looking at details that are unknown.
A relationship with God saves your life and of those around you. Interceding on behalf of others can change the course of their lives. He hears every voice, every broken heart, every child of God. Though, most of what I overthink really doesn’t matter, I’m reminded that the souls of man are serious business to God. God takes His people seriously, in turn we believers must also take living according to His commands as important. Unfortunately, I haven’t always taken those commands seriously and I’ve also paid the price.
Taking a lesson from the Israelites, I don’t have to make life harder on myself by rebelling against God. Thankfully, God sees me through the lens of Jesus’ shed blood. Thank God for the cross.
