deepens

I learned about repurposing anger in Sunday School. In the birth of Jesus Mary was pregnant through the Holy Spirit, yet Joseph heard about her pregnancy not from Mary but from folks around town…he was furious thinking she was lying, thinking she had laid with someone else. Yet God came to Him through angelic visitation, allowing Joseph to know what really happened. Yet being a godly man even before the angel arrived Joseph had chosen to repurpose his anger into compassion for Mary by divorcing her privately. For he could have done it publicly and she lawfully would have been killed. Granted Jesus is here, birthed to two parents so clearly Joseph believed the angel.

Yet the moral of the story is that Joseph did not act on anger but on compassion instead. God is helping me understand how to have compassion in the midst of anger. Anger is an energy that when dealt with properly can be beautiful. Yet only God’s presence in my life can turn my anger into glory, for I can not obtain it on my own. Life has taught me to hold onto God more than I hold onto people. I’m here through divine appointment. Twenty-eight days clean and God is showing up and OUT. Answering prayers, I know for a fact He hears every whisper, every silent nudge, every shouted wail.

Encouraged to keep going sheerly from God’s presence alone. I am seen and so are you. God sees every tear, every pain, every sleepless night. He is also present in every happiness, every laughter and every joy. I genuinely want to encourage you to keep going, keep seeking, keep chasing after God because believe me He is chasing even harder after you. To willingly send His Son Jesus to live this life filled with war and hatred. Jesus willing to be sent and crucified on the cross. Tortured physically and spiritually in front of those that hated Him, also in front of those that loved Him. His mother Mary and God Himself were witness to His brutal death on the cross, among others. Rising on the third day sealing salvation, defeating death and evil. Please never think for one second that God and Jesus don’t feel your pain because they bore the wages of sin just to be next to you.

Just to have you close, nearby like how a Father longs for the well being of His child, so Jesus died for you. He died that you may accept His hand, openly to allow freedom to come into your spirit. Addiction is a lot like sin in that no one can conquer it without the Hand of God. It was not meant to be won alone, nor was it meant for you to “get your life together then come to God.” In active addiction with the blunt in hand I was reading the Bible because I knew I was and am powerless over my sin and addiction. You are also powerless over sin whether you realize it or not, but freedom through Christ is real.

You do not have to choose sin when God is in the room. You don’t have to fall prey to the devil when God gives a way out ALWAYS. God will never tempt you because He will never bring you to a place of spiritual hurt, for He hates sin. Sin has the spirit broken along with our relationship with God. He sent Jesus as a pure lamb to be the redeemer of our souls. When God gives you His salvation He never takes it away. God gave me His heart and I can attest that He has never removed it from my life. I’ve given my heart to God, I’ve also taken it back so many times. The thing is to keep giving it back because eventually I stopped taking it back and started trusting Him with my heart. That’s when the divine attraction of our relationship deepens.
