straight path

As I’m reading about step eleven, “we sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.” It got me thinking about Mathew 3:3, “prepare the way for the Lord; make His paths straight.” In the reading it states that by working the first ten steps we were able to clear away the barriers in order to allow God full entry into our lives.

Preparing a straight path for Jesus in my life means removing the things that blocked out union. Removing the things that blocked His love from entering my heart. Removing the things that blocked the Holy Spirit from moving into my spirit. By God’s grace through faith the Holy Spirit has been helping me create that straight path. I’ve been doing my best to live by the voice within. Everyday it is a battle between myself and the Spirit.

The bible states that the flesh and the Spirit are purposely opposed to each other so we may not do what we want, Galatians 5:16-17. Everyday I’m having to remove and kill the flesh that wants things that go against the Spirit. The Spirit within is stronger than it has ever been, we are still growing.
